We don't usually talk about heterosis (hybrid vigor) with beans because it is very difficult to produce hybrids at scale.
That said, here's an example of heterosis in lima beans. The aggressively growing vine with dark green leaves is a hybrid.
There are a lot of smart people on Mastodon, so I’m looking for someone with the knowledge to help me build a death pod but it's more like a badass bobsled that rides a water slide into a volcano but it can't be plastic because it would melt and it probably shouldn't be metal because it would likely get too hot before you were launched into the lava so please let me know what materials would work best because this is not something I want to mess up.
Please boost for visibility.

I'm guessing this is the right forum to ask for this advice - I have a family member recovering from an operation, and they're going to be laid up for a while. They really like board games - is there a way to play remote/asynchronous games? Like correspondance chess, but for board games.

@ai6yr @MsMerope I maintain my (expletive-filled) opinion about this from last night when I found out about it:
ah, sorry to harsh your Friday vibes.
have some cookies🍪 🍪 and milk 🥛
@woozle Yeah but ruling powers (governments and the rich) aren't generally on the side of the people. It doesn't matter how much some people wish for a better world they don't have the power to really do anything.
At least when I look at myself, I have absolutely no power to do anything at the moment.
@Asuyuia Yeah, I'm taking that into account.
I fucking hate this company. This is so fucking stupid for so many reasons.

Aside from all the other stupidity, I'm stuck with how foolish this "test" was "we set up a bunch of lights, and people did stuff in the dark using the lights" wow, using lights a night! This totally shows satellite mirrors work and are a good idea.
Also thermal imagers work much better that people's eyes to find lost people.
Like, there is a version of self-aware cities that is incredibly dystopian and actually terrifying period but there's also a version that would be lovely and aspirational. I hadn't expected this like me to become the heart of my story, but it absolutely did.
Hastening to add that this is not an essay – it's a romance, but it's got a lot on its mind
I like the N.K. Jemisin version of Hong Kong with his fashionable scarf and his cigarette.

it appears that to get sounds to work on the iOS version of FastSMRW you just have to play an audio or video file that someone uploads, and when you are done, the sounds will play. I am not sure how long they will play for, but it has worked for me twice. So it does appear to be some kind of sound thing in iOS 27. @brynify

I'm gonna write about this for my noozletter soon
But for now I just wanted to say that this short story was more work than a lot of longer works. I did so much research!
What I learned is that there are "smart city" ideas that rely on surveillance and control. The alternative is direct democracy and letting people shape their own city.

"When you referred to my excessive attention to minute details as being pedantic, the word you were looking for was actually meticulous..."
No. I absolutely meant to say pedantic.
